#-Rueda Crash Course
An aching sensation in my legs keep me awake, aware of my body and its exhaustion. The slow build-up of lactic acid in my calves throughout the day finally reaches its peak, finally causes me to actually take notice of the fatigue. They say a frog will jump when you dunk it in hot water but put in in cool water and slowly raise teh temperature and it won't feel a thing until it's too late. Well it happens when you try dancing for 8 hours, in a crash course for Salsa Rueda. From 11AM to 8PM today, I was at Jitterbugs for the crash course so I could at least do basic Rueda. Surprisingly, I didn't feel tired until I stopped dancing, and that's when my legs just started to ache. Nevertheless, I still don't get why so many people find Rueda so fun. I mean sure it's fun but for me it kind of loses its novelty due to the need to follow and do fixed steps. I guess I'm just not one to be bound by rules or fixed routines. I need to use my own creativity, inject my own style and groove into everything I do. Plus what I like about dancing is the intense connection you have with your partner, and the feeling you get when you enjoy dancing with someone you're familiar with, but in Rueda, you change partners too often to form a strong connection, and well althoug I must admit it's fun to a certain extent, I just don't derive as much pleasure in it then other Rueda fans.-- Closed --
